How to get involved

This plan was created with and for the local communities.

Tourism takes place in and cannot be separated from the community. It is crucial to understand what the people of Queenstown Lakes want from the visitor economy. That is why the destination planning process was designed to be community-driven from the start. The process included Māori and iwi engagement and wide spread community and industry consultation.

The delivery of the destination management plan is overseen by a steering group made up of Destination Queenstown, Queenstown Lakes District Council and Lake Wānaka Tourism representatives. The group is interested to hear from members of the community regarding any of the projects in the plan.
